Welcome to our blogs on all things health.

There are a number of things a psychologist is not allowed to do. These include:

  • Engaging in sexual relationships with a current or former client
  • Treating a client as a friend or family member rather than as a professional client
  • Treating a client as a guinea pig or a subject for research without their consent
  • Treating a client who is mentally ill or incapable of making sound judgments
  • Treating a client when you are not qualified to do so
  • Using their professional position to abuse or exploit a client

If a psychologist fails to comply with these guidelines, it may result in professional sanctions or even legal action. If you believe a psychologist is not complying with these guidelines, it is important to seek professional advice and, if necessary, file a report.
