Prevent dropouts.
Recovery resilience.

Burnout is not an individual problem.
It is an organizational risk.

The Dutch labor market is under enormous pressure. Nearly 1 in 6 workers is struggling with severe burnout symptoms. The 25-35 age group - your high potentials and future leaders - are especially disproportionately affected.

Traditional stress interventions focus on cognitive solutions: time management, mindset coaching, a workshop here and there. But the problem is not cognitive - it is physiological. The autonomic nervous system of the modern knowledge worker is chronically in a state of mobilization, making true recovery impossible.

Our program tackles this at the source: the nervous system. Not with theory alone, but with a proven protocol that teaches employees to activate their own recovery capacity.

€250-€405 per day per sick employee

Direct absenteeism costs including continued pay, health and safety service and replacement. With burnout, this rises to an average of 290 days.

Presence costs more than absenteeism

Employees who are there but not functioning due to stress cost more than long-term sick people. Reduced productivity and conflict (estimated at €13,000 per case) are often invisible.

Capital destruction in young talents

Among 25-35-year-olds, up to 30% are struggling with burnout symptoms. These are the employees you have invested the most in - succession plans and knowledge retention are immediately at risk.

From nervous system to resilience

Our program is based on polyvagal theory - a scientific framework that explains how the autonomic nervous system determines whether we perform, survive or recover.

Ventral - Performance

The state of safety and connection. This is where your employees think clearly, work together and are innovative. This is what you pay them for.

Sympathetic - Survival

The state of mobilization: deadlines, urgency, always being “on.” Useful in the short term, but chronic residence here leads irrevocably to failure.

Dorsal - Recovery

The system of rest and recovery. In burnout, this pathway becomes overloaded and the body switches to energy conservation - the crash.

We teach your employees to flexible to switch between these states. They recognize signals of overload early and activate their own recovery capacity in a targeted way - so that stress no longer accumulates, but is discharged. Compare it to a cognitive athlete who not only trains, but also follows a sophisticated recovery schedule.

A complete course, not a one-time workshop

Behavior change requires repetition and integration. That's why we offer a full-year program - from kick-off training to individual listening protocol.

01
In-house training

Interactive kick-off at your location

A full training day in which your employees learn the language of the nervous system and experience directly how they can influence their own state.

  • The biology of stress and performance
  • Recognizing the three autonomous paths
  • Learning to observe early signs of burnout
  • Practical exercises for self-regulation
02
Individual protocol

Rest and Restore Protocol - 1 year access

After training, each participant receives a personalized listening plan based on a questionnaire. The protocol uses Sonocea technology to optimize the dorsal recovery system.

  • Personalized customized listening plan
  • 10 minutes daily, at home or in the office
  • Promotes sleep quality and stress recovery
  • Supports emotion regulation and focus
03
Return afternoon

Evaluation and deepening

After the first round of listening, we will return to discuss results, share experiences and set up the follow-up.

  • Questionnaire repetition and progression insight
  • Deepening of techniques
  • Establish personal hierarchy of recovery
  • Plan for sustainable integration into the workday
04
Secure

Long-term sustainable employability

The program is designed for lasting results. After the program, your employees will have the knowledge and tools to maintain their resilience independently.

  • Self-efficacy in stress regulation
  • Handouts and practice materials
  • One-year access to the protocol
  • Optional: scaling up to other departments

📊 Comply with your legal duty of care

The Occupational Health and Safety Act requires employers to implement PSA policies. Our program can be incorporated directly into your RI&E Plan of Action as a concrete, structural measure.

🛡️ Minimize liability risk

In case of work-related burnout, the burden of proof lies with the employer (Art. 7:658 BW). A structural prevention program strengthens your legal position considerably.

🏆 Invest in employer branding

Modern employees choose employers who take mental health seriously. This program strengthens your position as an attractive employer in a tight labor market.

Practical information

The program is suitable for any organization dealing with work pressure and stress complaints. We see particularly good results in knowledge-intensive sectors such as IT, consulting, finance, law, healthcare and education - anywhere where the brain is the most important means of production.

Standard training takes place in-house at your organization on location. In consultation, a session is also possible at our location in Utrecht - please contact us for the possibilities.

The Rest and Restore Protocol (RRP) is a listening protocol developed by Stephen Porges and Anthony Gorry, based on Sonocea technology. It focuses on improving the quality of the dorsal (parasympathetic) nervous system - your natural system for rest and recovery. Participants listen to the protocol for 10 minutes daily, contributing to better sleep, stress recovery, focus and emotion regulation. Read more about the Rest and Restore Protocol.

Yes, this is possible. By default, we provide the training in-house at your organization. This is the most efficient in terms of time and cost for your organization. We also have various locations, including culinary options. So we can tailor everything to your needs.

Utrecht - In consultation, we are happy to schedule an on-site session. Together we will then draw up a tailor-made offer on, tailored to your group size and desired guidance. Contact us at preventie@brainarts.nl to discuss options.

Privacy is guaranteed. Individual results of questionnaires and listening protocols are never shared with the employer. The employer receives only anonymized group reports. These are based in part on a pre- and post-measurement for which the standardized Burnout Assessment Tool (BAT) - Version 2.0 is used.

Absolutely. The program is specifically designed to meet the legal obligation around Psychosocial Workload (PSA). You can include it directly in your RI&E Plan of Action as a structural measure. This also strengthens your position in the event of an inspection by the Labor Inspectorate.

The price per person depends on the group size, since the training days are divided among the entire group. As a guideline: approximately €950 per person for 5–7 participants, €850 for 8–12 participants, and €750 for 13 or more participants. We also offer a fully digital program for €500 per employee, available for as few as one employee—ideal for smaller teams. All prices are exclusive of VAT.

The digital program offers the same academic foundation as the in-house program, fully integrated into our Karuma app. Each employee receives their own access code and completes the burnout prevention module at their own pace: all relevant theory, short daily exercises, a BAT 2.0 pre- and post-assessment, and an individualized listening plan with 12 months of access to Rest and Restore Protocol, including guidance.

The module is available in five languages (Dutch, English, German, French, and Spanish)—making it suitable for international teams as well. Privacy is fully guaranteed: the results an employee enters in the app are visible only to the employee—not even we have access to them. As an employer, would you still like insight into the group effect? Upon request, we can conduct an additional BAT assessment via our secure online environment, from which we’ll compile an anonymized group report. The program costs €500 per employee, excluding VAT, and is available for as few as one employee.

Polyvagal theory provides a powerful and clinically effective framework for understanding stress responses. We use it as a heuristic model - a practical and recognizable framework - supplemented by broad-based interventions such as HRV training, breathwork and somatic techniques. The effectiveness of nervous system regulation for stress reduction is scientifically undisputed.

Participants often report improved sleep quality and greater awareness of their stress patterns after only the first round of listening (a few weeks). Structural change in resilience and absenteeism is seen over a period of 3 to 6 months. The annual program is designed for lasting results. Not a temporary band-aid. But a lasting change that makes your organization more structurally resilient.
