Welcome to our blogs on all things health.

Trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are two different things. Trauma is a profound experience that can cause emotional or physical harm. Examples include an accident, a natural disaster, war, sexual or emotional abuse, or other forms of violence.

PTSD is a mental health condition that can develop after a traumatic event. It is the body’s and mind’s way of responding to a deeply distressing experience. People with PTSD may experience re-experiencing of the traumatic event, such as flashbacks or nightmares, and may have trouble concentrating, become easily irritated, or feel emotionally detached. They may also experience a reduced interest in activities they used to enjoy, a diminished sense of hope for the future, and a feeling of emotional instability.

It’s important to remember that PTSD can result from trauma, but not everyone who experiences trauma automatically develops PTSD. It’s also important to seek professional help if you think you have PTSD or if you’re experiencing symptoms that persist for a long time after a traumatic event.
