In the Netherlands, visits to psychologists are generally covered under the basic health insurance plan. This means that you will pay no copayment\u2014or only a limited one\u2014for a visit to a psychologist if you have insurance that includes this care in the basic plan.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, there are a number of exceptions to this rule. For example, certain forms of psychological care, such as psychoanalysis, are not always fully covered under the basic plan. Also, some psychologists are not affiliated with a health insurer and are therefore not covered.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is therefore important to check whether the psychologist you are seeing is affiliated with a health insurance provider and whether the care you receive is covered under your insurance\u2019s basic plan. If you are not insured or if you are receiving psychological care that is not covered by your basic insurance plan, you may need to pay for this care yourself.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is also possible to purchase supplemental insurance that covers additional mental health care. If you are considering purchasing supplemental insurance, it is important to carefully read the policy terms and coverage to see which services are and are not covered.<\/span><\/p>\n
