A mental illness is a mental health disorder characterized by symptoms such as disturbed thoughts, emotions, behavior, and social interactions. There are hundreds of different mental health conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, personality disorders, attention-deficit\/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and schizophrenia. Some of these disorders are more common than others and can range in severity from mild to severe.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is important to remember that mental health conditions are not the same as personality traits or individual differences, nor are they the same as normal emotional responses to stressful or difficult circumstances.
